In case you’re looking for fresh music that you could listen to again and again, then you should give the sound of our Be Discovered band Amber a listen. And in last night’s One Music Live session, the band composed of Ojas Fernandez, Red Herce, Carlo Pagaspas, Aldrew Andino and Steven Sy delivered an impressive show. When One Music PH spoke to the band regarding their camaraderie and musicality, they had some interesting things to say.
Asked where the band’s name came from, the answer is a song by a popular American rock band. “Sa favorite song namin galing, sa band na 311…Nung naisip namin yung Amber dapat dudugtungan pa namin ng one word. Wala na kaming maisip. Nag-decide kami na Amber na (The band name came from our favorite song by the band 311…When we thought of Amber, we wanted to add another word to our name. We couldn’t think of any, so we stuck with Amber),” Fernandez said.
While the band’s name was inspired by the 311 song, their musicality is nothing like the American band’s, but in an absolutely good way. Fernandez shared that when they write songs, they do so casually and without thinking that their compositions will one day become hits.
True enough, Amber’s music has a beautiful sound that compels you to give your full attention when they’re playing. They were once told that their music sounds like that of Urbandub’s, but they do exert effort in sounding unique. And judging from last night’s performance, it doesn’t look like they’re going to have a difficult time doing so.
When Amber was asked what for them are signs of success for the band, their answers varied at first before arriving at a consensus. “World tour. Magka-album. Marinig sa radio…’Pag nakikita namin na nagugustuhan ng ibang tao yung kanta namin. Achievement ‘yon ‘pag kinakanta nila yung songs namin (To have an album. Be heard on the radio…When we see other people liking our songs. It’d be a great achievement to hear other people sing our songs),” the members of the band said.
And if there’s one sign that great things are to come for the band, it’s iconic band The Dawn guitarist Francis Reyes giving them an invaluable piece of advice. “Sabi ni Francis Brew, tapos na yung Urbandub. You have to make Amber.”
Indeed, here they are now, making Amber.

It may seem that Karlos is out of place in One Music PH because he’s someone who can’t live without sports. Until of course, he realized that he is equally passionate with music as well. He may not admit it just yet, but Karlos loves Davie Bowie very much. Oh, and he runs a barbershop too.
