Music Television or more popularly known as the MTV has officially announced this year’s winner for the Best Southeast Asia Act at the Europe Music Awards (EMA) and it’s no other a Filipino pride, James Reid.
The “Cool Down” singer has beat seven artists from different countries such as Faizal Tahir (Malaysia), Dam Vinh Hung (Vietnam), Isyana Sarasvati (Indonesia), Slot Machine (Thailand), The Sam Willows (Singapore) and lastly, the seventh nominee who came from a wildcard voting, Palitchoke Ayanaputra (Thailand).
“It is such an honor to be representing the Philippines,” he said. “I’ll keep on making music. I’ll bring the Philippines to the world stage.”
“At syempre maraming-maraming salamat sa lahat ng bumoto sa akin,” he added.
Back in 2015, James, who is now part of the ABS-CBN noontime show It’s Showtime!, was also nominated in the same category.
James recently launched his newest single, “Turning Up,” still from his latest and viral album, Palm Dreams.
