Right before everyone took a break for the Holy Week, One Music had some of the best musicians entertain fans both online and in the live audience for a very special edition of One Music Live: Summer Jam. Included in the line-up was the much anticipated performance of none other than Kaye Cal, who performed a Bruno Mars medley (Versace on the Floor and That’s What I Like), Rosas, Why Can’t It Be, Mahal Ba Ako ng Mahal Ko, and Itchyworms’ Akin Ka Na Lang.
Check out her set and a post-performance interview below:
“I had an awesome time performing sa One Music Live Summer Jam,” said Kaye Cal to One Music PH. “Nakakatuwa kasi ang ganda nung set-up, tapos nakakantahan ko ng malapitan yung audience. I really had fun.” ("I was delighted because the set-up was great, and I got to sing to the audience up close.")
Team Kaye Cal showed their all out support for the “Why Can’t It Be” singer as they sang every word from Kaye’s newly released debut album. Decked in Kaye Cal merchandise, the fans also got the special chance to ask some questions to the singer herself as hosts Tiny Corpuz and DJ Kisses pulled some lucky fans from the audience.
One of the most memorable parts of the night, however, was when Kaye met Nigerian fan Isaac Monday, who learned her song “Isang Araw” despite the language barrier. “Natutuwa ako dahil medyo marami naman yung mga nattouch ng songs at ng music ko. Sobrang nagpapasalamat ako, lalo na kay God kasi siya nagbigay sa akin ng talent na to. Very grateful and ang sarap sa puso.” ("I'm happy because quite a lot f people have been touched by my songs and my music. I thank God because He gave the this talent. I'm very grateful and it warms my heart.")
Kaye also shared with us that they’ll be shooting the music video for Why Can’t It Be soon, so be sure to watch out for that, along with some mall tours and promotional shows after Holy Week.

Writer/photographer/non-musician that hopes to promote local independent music. Probably hanging out at a gig at this very moment...
