Much has been said of Curtismith, and rightly so – he’s impressed everyone including the likes of business magnate Sir Richard Branson himself for his distinct take on rap and hip hop. Today, however, he ventures into new territory as he releases Rehearsals EP, a jazz-tinged collaboration with Stages Session founder Miguel Jimenez.
For the first time, Curtismith finds himself playing a front man for a full band composed of some of the best musicians in the local scene today. The band includes: Erica Tolentino and Gio Quintos on back-up vocals, John Apura and Tom’s Story’s Gabba Santiago on guitars, Harrold Go on bass, Jensen and the Flips’ Choi Padilla on keys, THE BGNR a.k.a. Andrew Florentino on synths, Benjo Robles on Drums, Neo Manosca on trumpet, and Miguel Jimenez on saxophone.
Previously released on SoundClound, the full EP is now available as a series of live performance videos on YouTube. Check the playlist out below:
In addition to his new musical venture, Curtismith has also teamed up with Payatas Orione Foundation to set up a fundraiser on April 29 for underprivileged children. Titled the Ideal Payatas Feeding Program, the day will be filled with “music, games, and unity” as the group feeds 700 kids, and helps send them to school. Curtismith assures that “100 percent of the profits will be donated to the children with full transparency of how the accumulated funds will be spent.”
