March 4 saw two huge announcements in the local concert scene: Phoenix and Two Door Cinema Club are coming to the Philippines!
Manila! Finally! It's taken a while but we'll be in you for In The Mix at Mall of Asia Arena on 17th August! pic.twitter.com/8EB9cjeYbx— Two Door Cinema Club (@TDCinemaClub) March 4, 2017
Over Twitter, Irish indie rock band Two Door Cinema Club announced that they would be joining the line-up of In the Mix 2017! Last month, MMI Live announced the partial line-up of the event, which includes Australian pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer alongside singer-songwriters Zara Larsson and Daya. More announcements are expected to be made in the following days.
Their announcement comes three years after cancelling their 2013 Manila show due to laryngitis.
In the Mix 2017 will be held on August 17 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Music lovers at the Wanderland Festival weren’t only treated to some great acts, but they were also the first ones to know that French alternative rock band Phoenix would be making their way back to Manila! The group was last in the Philippines for their sold out 2014 show at the World Trade Center, and will now be playing at the Araneta Coliseum for their much-awaited return.
Composed of Thomas Mars, Deck d’Arcy, Laurent Brancowitz, and Christian Mazzalai, the group last released “Bankrupt!” in 2013. They stayed out of the spotlight since then, but recent updates on their social media as well as tour dates in the US and Europe seem to be pointing to their return to the studio very soon.
Similar to In the Mix 2017, Phoenix’ concert will be held around August, although no particular date has been announced as of yet.
