With a mere 363 page likes on Facebook, and just 726 followers on Instagram, it doesn’t seem like too many people know the talent of Chris Lopez and his musical alter ego, Moophs. Even his Sound Cloud page shows that not a lot of people know the talent behind Moophs: with just over 1,300 followers, it seems as if his tracks aren’t getting that much attention.
But listening to any of his songs, especially his newest single, “Space Travel,” featuring the ethereal voice of Xelah, will easily make you question his relative unpopularity. Here is a DJ bringing a fresh twist to the EDM sound, combining the urban charm of California with the tropical vibe of the Philippines, and essentially reinventing EDM for the OPM scene at large. So why is such a talented artist so unknown? Simple: he just started! And it’s up to music lovers (and fans of Tropical Bass EDM) like us to support the fresh talents that come out of the woodwork, so to speak.
One of his first major performances was at the Malasimbo Festival, a true feat in and of itself, and has already released a new single in collaboration with Xelah, another EDM artist. In his short time in the local music scene, he’s already gathered a relatively sizable following, and with 14 tracks on his Sound Cloud (with more well on the way), Moophs is set to become the new big thing in local EDM, and will definitely redefine what it means to be an OPM EDM artist!

Raf rarely gets bored. However, when he does get bored, he works out his mind by dissecting the hidden and subtle meanings of songs. He enjoys philosophizing on pop songs, traveling the Metro in his hatchback, exercising constantly, and collecting leather bags.
