Without a doubt, the Philippines has proven time and time again that it is the prime breeding ground for internationally-ready talent, be it in any sport or game, like music. And Andree Camille (or AC, for short…) Bonifacio, who shot to fame via the ABS- CBN Filipino Dance Competition Dance Kids – where she walked away proudly with the honor of being the first-ever Grand Champion – has her eyes and mind set on making waves on foreign shores as she unveiled her latest dance-cover video via Youtube, featuring the music of internationally acclaimed electronic dance music trio Major Lazer, whose producer Diplo recently released the single “Que Calor.”
AC – whose meteoric rise to fame as a dancer was highlighted with appearances on the hit international television series The Ellen DeGeneres Show and by meeting and dancing alongside American pop superstar Ariana Grande in 2015 – has since evolved into being a singer, actress and most recently, a de facto influencer on social media with 2.3 million followers on Instagram and 1 million (and counting…) on Youtube. Utilizing the power of the internet, she continuously entertains and inspires young and old alike with her fun music videos, BTS shoots, dance choreography covers and other fun content.
And this time, it’s her very own dance cover of Major Lazer’s “Que Calor.”

Lauded as the most successful and acclaimed Jamaican-American electronic dance music trio of the millennium, Major Lazer includes DJs Walshy Fire and Ape Drums, and at the helm of it all is record producer Diplo. Their biggest hit to date, “Lean On,” was successfully preceded with the infectious club anthem “Bubble Butt,” and the group has the bragging rights to having 1.2 billion streams on digital music platform Spotify, and a collected 2.4 billion views on Youtube for their material. Last September 11, the collective released “Que Calor” featuring Colombian reggaetón singer J Balvin and Dominican dembow pioneer El Alfa; the track features Dominican rhythms, which is hailed by many as the Jamaica-via-Dominican-Republic cousin of Reggaeton, fused with “dancehall riddims” and hip-hop.
And in celebration of the track’s release, Major Lazer decided to start a worldwide campaign and search for the most innovative dance covers for the track. And that’s where AC Bonifacio comes in, as she is sure to be one of the most-fiery contenders for the honors, and will undoubtedly do the country proud.
