Hiphop group Chinese Mafia takes on the spotlight in the local music scene once again after ‘a sabbatical leave’ of almost 18 years.
The group — comprises of actor/magician Jeffrey Tam a.k.a. Chi Nigga, together with Jay Flava and Klutch B — comes up with a new track titled “LABAN.”
“After 18 years, ngayon lang ako officially nakabalik sa pag-ra-rap,” Tam, who wrote the song, told OneMusicPH.
“LABAN,” which is the official soundtrack of the film ‘We Will Not Die Tonight,’ an official entry to this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, marks Chinese Mafia’s first collaboration with Slapshock’s Jamir Garcia and Lean Ansing.
“Tinawagan ko si Jamir. Sabi ko gawa tayong kanta, para dito nga sa movie. Pinarinig ko sa kanya ‘yung gusto kong areglo, nagustuhan naman niya,” Tam shared. “Nagbigay rin siya ng inputs niya.”
The track’s official music video, meanwhile, marks Tam’s directorial debut.
Asked if Pinoy rap music fans should expect more music from Chinese Mafia, Tam said: “Yes. Nag-usap-usap kami ng mga ka-grupo ko na gagawa pa kami ng mga bagong music.”
Tam also shared he is currently apprenticing to Richard Somes, the director of ‘We Will Not Die Tonight,’ which will be shown in cinemas from August 15 to 21.

James is everywhere. He is so busy, but he never fails to make time with friends. He loves all types of music. He loves food. He loves to travel too, if time permits. James is everywhere and what he sees is what you get.
