Mayonnaise has always been among some of the most well-known OPM bands of all time. With hits such as "Jopay," "Bakit Part 2," "Paraan," "Tayo Na Lang Dalawa," and “Kathryn,” still making their rounds on the airwaves, it’s no surprise that they are still widely popular even today.
And now the band is gearing up for their biggest show yet.
One Music PH, together with Gabi Na Naman Productions bring forth “Akalain Mo ‘Yun: Mayonnaise Live at the Music Museum” happening on June 29, 2019 at the Music Museum, Greenhills, San Juan.
This would be the band’s first major headlining concert, following their on-going nationwide Gusto Ko Lang Mag Tour.

So why did it take 17 years for them to have their own concert?
During the blog conference at El Calle Food and Music Hall at Resorts World Manila held last May 23rd, Mayonnaise’s lead vocalist and guitarist, Monty Macalino mentioned that since they’re used to doing smaller gigs and producing their own shows, it didn’t really occur to them that they would reach the point where they could hold a big concert.
“Kaya ‘Akalain Mo ‘Yun’ kasi akalain mo ‘yun? After all this time we’ve been doing gigs almost every night na umabot na tayo sa punto na ganito na kaseryoso, ganito na ang kapasidad ng banda to be able to headline a major concert,” he said.
With almost two decades under their belt, it’s hard to imagine that they were once told that they weren’t going to make it in the industry. Instead of letting that get to them, they chose to focus on what they love doing the most—making music and sharing it with others.
Because of this, the band has always made it a point to support their fellow musicians on the scene, which is probably why they have served as an inspiration to many aspiring artists to share their music as well.
“Nagkaroon kasi ng time na walang ring tumutulong sa akin, eh. Ayaw kong mangyari ‘yun sa ibang mga banda,” Monty said. “Ayaw kong isipin nila na wala nang pag-asa.”
With that being said, one piece of advice they could give to the new generation of OPM bands is, “Be in the band because you want to be in the band. Not because of any other motivation.”
It’s nice knowing that they still remain as passionate as they were then and now, because they would not be the band that they are today.
