Last February 16, 2020, IV Of Spades delighted their fans by premiering their latest musical offering “Ang Pinagmulan,” released both on Spotify and on YouTube.
Though the song itself is amazing and showcases the talent and musicality of the trio, the video is where it gets deep and trippy.
The music video features the band being submerged numerous times underwater for extended periods, hammering the point of “drowning” as mentioned in the song. Fans have offered their own speculation regarding this imagery, stating their opinion that this may be a metaphor for the members drowning in the own thoughts, or drowning in the harsh opinions of other people, namely the band’s haters.
Others have also pointed out that this “drowning” might be a metaphor for the band’s figurative death and drowning in the music industry, which they inevitably overcome, eventually becoming even more successful for it.
Regardless of what the music video means, it’s still a grand showcase for a truly talented trio. Watch the full video here:
