
It was a night of young Filipino supergroups as SB19 and Ben&Ben emerged as the biggest winners in the recently-concluded 2022 Awit Awards curated by MYX. The Ppop phenoms went home with seven awards, while the biggest pop-indie band in the country today emerged with five trophies. SB19 was also acknowledged as the Most Stremed Artist, while "Mapa" was also recognized as the Most Streamed Song.
Belle Mariano and Maymay Entrata won the major People’s Voice categories alongside Darren Espanto, and BGYO. Belle Mariano won Breakthrough Artist and Favorite Song for “Sigurado” while Maymay was hailed as Favorite Female Artist. Darren Espanto was awarded Favorite Male Artist. BGYO won Favorite Group Artist for the 2nd straight year!
Presented by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) and curated by MYX in the aim of giving the Awards Night a more youthful makeover and presentation, the all-star awarding ceremony was held November 23 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
KZ Tandingan won three awards, while the aforementioned Mariano, Leanne & Naara, Zild, and Noel Mendez went home with a couple each.
Top winners included Leanne & Naara’s “Anticipation” as Record of the Year, Ben&Ben’s Pebble House Vol. 1: Kuwaderno as Album of the Year, and Zack Tabudlo’s “Binibini” as Song of the Year.
