After almost a year of regrouping, re-establishing their musical bearings and establishing chemistry with new personnel and refining their all-new musical sound and direction, modern rock/heavy metal outfit CHELSEA ALLEY has finally unleashed its first official salvo in the form of its debut single “Heneral.”
And as early as now, fans, peers and music pundits alike are literally going crazy after feeling the impact of the song’s signature sonic boom, highlighted by turbo-charged riffs, walloping, gargantuan beats and rhythms, and the trademark anthemic interplay between aggressive vocal grows and soaring, melodic choruses.
Released on Christmas Day, 2021 at the stroke of midnight, the song took many – if not all - by surprise, since the band had just completed a mini-docu-series of their beginnings online, and only began teasing a few seconds of “Heneral” very recently in the past weeks, without mentioning an exact release date beforehand. And now it’s finally unleashed, and can be heard on leading worldwide video streaming platform YouTube.
Comprised of guitarist Lean Ansing and drummer Chi Evora (the surviving members of Filipino Heavy Metal heavyweights SLAPSHOCK…), guitarist Ariel Lumanlan (of underground hardcore band ARCADIA and formerly of CHICOSCI) and vocalist John Borja (himself a seasoned frontman for numerous independent local bands…), the band is finally taking its first step toward musical domination with a song that obviously pays homage to the group’s collective musical hero and fallen friend Jamir Garcia.
“It all started after having one of the most serious heart-to-heart talks I’ve ever had with Chi over at the warehouse when we began jamming on material,” recounts Borja, who – once upon a time – was actually considered to front renowned hard rock legends STONE TEMPLE PILOTS not too long ago. “I could literally feel the anger, the pain and intense emotion while he was telling me about the immense loss, and I was nearly driven to tears… so as soon as I got home, I started writing all of that, and channeled all of those emotions, and tried my best to capture what I think Jamir what was going through right before his passing,” he reveals, and adds: “it’s a tribute yes, but it’s also a reminder that the connection between friends – that love and bond – WILL cross over even to the next life: that nothing will ever break a bond like that.”
“Heneral” was recorded and produced by Lean Ansing, and mixed and mastered by JD Wong of Studio 21:05 in Malaysia. As mentioned, it is the start of many great things coming ahead in the year 2022, so keep tuned-in!
