In 2014, the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra staged a successful, two-night run of “Disney in Concert: Tale as Old as Time.” Led by Gerard Salonga, the 42-piece orchestra performed Disney classics galore, along with guests Karylle, Morissette, Sam Concepcion, Carla Guevara-Laforteza, Caisa Borromeo, Antonio Ferrer, and Jillian Ita-as.
Over the weekend (November 19-20), the ABS-CBN Philharmonic restaged the event and once again captivated the audience with their magical renditions of classic Disney hits. This time, Bituin Escalante, Jef Flores, Tim Pavino, Tanya Manalang, and Janella Salvador joined the crew as they sung hits like “Kiss the Girl,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Be Our Guest,” and many more.
The star of the night was OPM Pop Sweetheart Janella Salvador, who performed Tangled’s “I See the Light,” and Frozen’s “For the First Time in Forever.” Morissette, as well, stunned with her rendition of “Let It Go,” while Bituin Escalante gave everyone goosebumps are she sung The Lion King’s ”Circle of Life” for the show’s encore.
It seems like Janella’s on the way to becoming the Philippines’ next Disney Princess, as she was also chosen to sing the Philippines’ version “How Far I’ll Go,” the official theme song of upcoming Disney film “Moana.” Last year, she was also tapped to sing “Happily Ever After” for the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong Disneyland.
