We live in a world that has wandered into a dire situation, and is now trying to fight its way into safety. Call it ECQ, GCQ, or by any other name, it has felt like the people have been trapped in their homes, scared of what’s to come. With all this uncertainty, we turn to a voice that has proven well to be a source of hope and inspiration.
juan karlos' new single "BLESS Ü" is an open letter to his audience, as he expresses his outlook of a nation in distress. He croons: “For in the end of every tunnel, baby there's light” over a relaxed backing track. The encouragement he shares on the track is the hopeful sentiment that we all need right now.
His opening verses then make way for an impassioned spoken word performance that preaches about the belief in love, even when it seems hardest to give, will pull us all together in the end. The change in tone shifts from one of reassurance to that of fired up determination––the quick strumming of his guitar only helps to rouse your spirit. juan karlos reminds us that it’s not just the pandemic that the Philippines is currently battling. “Karma waits for the ones who deserve it” he starts off, and imparts audiences with “Learn to forgive the ones who did you wrong.”
It’s not the first time that one of juan karlos’ songs has braved into difficult subjects. "BLESS Ü" follows the release of the band’s debut album Diwa, with emotionally charged single Sampaguita which emphasizes the hardships faced by OFW’s. A lot has changed since the album’s release but his fearless expression of relevant topics remains continues inthe music he creates.
The gospel-like litany of affirmation, along with the melodic guitar solo, inspiring chorus, and powerful beats of the drum collectively attempt to strengthen the listener’s resolve. We hear the line "Honey, God bless Ü" echo in chorus untilthe end, in hopes to impart the message that we can continue marching on if we hold on together.
With this single, juan karlos hopes to reach audiences with a purest intention of uplifting their spirits in the most challenging of times yet. Although the pace at which we receive bad news out speeds our ability to process it, in thespan of 5 minutes, you completely forget the fear and anger you might be holding and take in what juan karlos remindsus is: we’ll all get through together.
To further emphasize juan karlos’ lyrics, he has decided a portion of the revenue streams of BLESS Ü will help fund the collective fight against COVID-19 in the Philippines, particularly through mass-testing efforts. Following the release ofthe song, the band will also hold a special online concert to serenade audiences and raise funds.
Music has always been one of the most powerful forms of culture with its ability to rally people’s spirits. Right now, what we need is a resounding feeling of hope and compassion more than ever. If you believe that this song has thatvery power, then honey, God BLESS Ü.

James is everywhere. He is so busy, but he never fails to make time with friends. He loves all types of music. He loves food. He loves to travel too, if time permits. James is everywhere and what he sees is what you get.
