Jungee has been loyal in joining "Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs," the multimedia songwriting competition organized by ABS-CBN and Star Music, then Star Records.
As "Himig Handog" started in the year 2000, Jungee was one of the finalists through his song entry "Super Pinoy" interpreted by Jolina Magdangal. In the following year, his entry "K Naman" was picked in the Top 10 as it was interpreted by Noel Cabangon.
As we recall, during one of his interviews few years back, the composer of the Himig Handog 2013 Daniel Padilla-hit "Nasa 'Yo Na Ang Lahat" shared what is so special in joining such thing, big or small.
"Competitions bring out the best in me. I like the challenge being put on the table and the camaraderie amongst finalists and the organizers," he stated.
Jungee, who also wrote "Pumapag-ibig" interpreted by Marion Aunor for Himig Handog 2014, added: "I learn something new every time I become part of a contest."
In the new season of 'Himig Handog' this year, he once again made it to the finals with not just one but two entries titled 'Diamante' and 'Monumento.'

"Joining songwriting competition is one way of checking ourselves if we still have it. I enter competitions just for me to know if I'm at par with the current trends of songwriting," Jungee also shared.
