For Be Discovered artist Megan Tarce, it all started with four chords.
She was trained to sing by her grandfather when she was only four years old. From there, she started joining amateur singing competitions, trying to emulate divas like Mariah Carey and Celine Dion – a surprising start, once you hear Megan’s current body of work.
It was her brother, on the other hand, who taught her how to play the guitar. And it was with her first four chords (G – Em – C – D, to be exact) that her love for music truly blossomed. After joining ‘battle of the bands’ competitions, she soon realized: “'ito talaga gusto ko – mag-banda.”

A writer at heart, Megan started out composing her original tracks by writing poems and eventually grabbing her guitar to put the words to melody. Her songs are mostly inspired by her own personal experiences, she says, citing her single ‘Di Ka Nag-iisa’ as an example. An encouraging track about a family member, she shares the song’s message: “Kahit malayo siya o kahit hindi siya nagpapakita sa amin, sana lagi niyang isipin na nandito kami para sa kanya, and nandyan si God para sa kanya.”
With more than enough original songs under her belt, Megan says an album or EP is due in the near future, but life as a full-time musician is keeping her busy. With regular gigs in her schedule at the moment, she says the only thing she’s waiting for now is simple: perfect timing.

Writer/photographer/non-musician that hopes to promote local independent music. Probably hanging out at a gig at this very moment...
