Concerts both locally and internationally are being postponed following the outbreak of COVID-19. For a lot of countries, these postponements are in line with their local government’s mandate to limit massive public gatherings in order to lessen the chances of the virus spreading even further. People all over the world are encouraged instead to stay at home and limit social interactions.
For a lot of concert-goers, that seems like a depressing thought, especially if you’ve already bought your tickets. However, for a lot of artists, being cooped up at home is an invitation for more creative ventures, and they used their free time by hosting virtual concerts, taking requests from fans online, as well as collaborating with fellow artists virtually. Here’s some that we found so far:
Death Cab For Cutie:
I had so much fun livestreaming today, can’t wait to do it again tomorrow at 4pm PT! I’m taking requests, what do you want to hear? https://t.co/mGtxzmMWsa— Death Cab for Cutie (@dcfc) March 18, 2020
If you’re able, please donate to @aurora_commons as they desperately need tents and camping supplies to help those in need. pic.twitter.com/IofuqC0nTR
Social distancing is important, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring. I did a little at-home performance to help lift your spirits. @Miguel, @CharliePuth - you want next? Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman:
This list is far from exhaustive, since many more artists are joining the bandwagon, hosting their own mini-concerts, both locally and internationally. It’s a great way for us to pass the time as we wait for the world to calm down.
Stay safe and healthy always.
