On October 5th, the One Music PH team joined in on the listening party and press conference for the Himig Handog 2018 official Top 10 entries, where the official interpreters were finally introduced. The theme for the highly anticipated songwriting and music video competition this year is "Love Songs and Love Stories.”
This year’s entries spoke volumes, majority catering to millennial listeners with themes that touched on and young love and crushes, such as “Dalawang Pag-Ibig Niya” and “Para sa Tabi”; of hope, like the songs “Wakasan” and “Tintatapos Ko Na”; as well as more serious, heartbreaking subjects like in “Kababata” and “Wala Kang Alam.”
From a hefty 5,000 entries, it was narrowed down to these 10 songs. This is the first year where 9 out of 10 composers are first time entries, with only one repeat composer from 2014. Here is the list of this year's finalists:

"Sa Mga Bituin Na Lang Ibubulong" by Kyle Raphael Borbon; interpreted by JM de Guzman
"Sugarol" by Jan Sabili; interpreted by Maris Racal
"Tinatapos Ko Na" by Sarah Jane Gandia; interpreted by Jona
"Wakasan" by Philip Arvin Jarilla; interpreted by Agsunta
"Wala Kang Alam" by Martin John Arellano and Mel Magno; interpreted by Sam Mangubat
Each of the 10 songs will be performed live on ASAP, which kicked off on October 7 with Jona and Sam Mangubat. Watch their powerful performances below:
