“Sobrang dami.” These were words from Jireh Singson, vocalist of the band Agsunta, pertaining to original songs they are set to release in the coming years, following their contract signing under DNA Music on Thursday, May 9.
Jireh, alongside bandmates Mikel Arevalo (lead guitarist/backup), Josh Planas (bassist/backup), and Stephen Arevalo (drummer), inked a new recording deal with the Star Music sub-label by the presence of their manager Perry Lansigan, Star Music audio content head Jonathan Manalo, and ABS-CBN Music head Roxy Liquigan.
This only means more new tracks, EPs, “and hopefully an album” for the band in the future.
“Actually sobrang daming naka-line up, tinatrabaho lang namin,” said Jireh.
Almost four months after they went on hiatus, the band said they are stronger now to take on the challenges as long as there are people who keep on believing in them.
“Sa totoo lang nakakaapekto naman talaga ‘yon sa amin, personally. Pero lagi lang namin iniisip na hindi naman kami nagp-play for those people, for the bashers.. we’re not playing for them,” said Jireh. “We’re playing for the people who believe in us, who needs our music.”
In just a span of a month, Agsunta has released two new singles such as “Bagong Umaga” and the latest one, “Alas Dose.”
“Hangga’t mayroong mga taong naniniwala, hangga’t may mga taong kailangan makarinig ng musika namin, lagi kaming gagawa at gagawa."
