Popular YouTube content creator Mr. Beast successfully recreates the now-iconic set of the extremely popular Korean Netflix series Squid Gameset and hold his own competition - minus the violence and carnage of the original, of course. The video has already amassed 26.5 million views and counting 12 hours after the upload and is #1 Trending on YouTube.
Mr. Beast announced that they spent $456,000 to recreate the entire set, and invited 456 competitors. He offered another $456,000 as cash prize to the grand winner. Including all the announced money amounts given throughout the video ($2,000 each to 90 people who lost the Honeycomb challenge, another $4,000 each to 22 people who voluntarily surrrendered before the tug of war, and $10,000 to the first runner-up), and Mr. Beast spent at least a shade over $1.1 million dollars. Except for the impossible-to-recreate segments from the show (replacing the rumble with the recruitment game, and the finale Squid Game with musical chairs), the staging was every bit as faithful to the original without harming anybody.
Unfortunately though, our real life protagonist #456 didn't win, only ending up at 4th place.
