Here we are with another serving of New For You, where we put a spotlight on "new" artists in the local music scene regardless of genre, platform, label, or popularity. So whether you’re into pop, funk, RnB, hip-hop, rock, or anything under the sun, we’ve got you covered!
It’s simple: you make music, we share it. ... Every other Wednesday.
This week’s serving is lucky No. 7—lucky because these three artists couldn’t be any more different, yet we absolutely enjoy listening to them. Check out who we’re listening to this week!
This multi-talented hip-hop / R&B artist is a singer-songwriter, producer, and film maker who is quite well-known in the hip-hop community for his smooth vocals and the slow, infectious bedroom beats. He started making music at 16 with 187 Mobstaz Entertainment, and is currently a member of the award winning label, The Dirtyroom Productions. He has since collaborated with and produced music for numerous mainstream artists in the local industry.
Just Hush has several popular tracks to his nam, such as “Maikee’s Letters” and “Masiram,” but today we’re featuring a feel-good track titled “Takeoff.” Listen below:
This five-piece punk rock band is just as their band name suggests: an absolute riot! And judging from their stage names—Johnny Riot on vocals, Robin Tagalog on guitars, Galileo Galilei Abella on guitars, PQ Mo on bass, and Ryan Tabag on drums—you know you’re in for a lot of fun.
Their live performances are full of energy and comedic timing, yet their musicality shines through just the same. It also helps that their lyrics just make you want to smile while listening along.
Don’t believe us? Listen to their track “Bangs Not Dead” below and tell us how you it made you feel. You won’t regret it!
Moon Mask is a four-piece dream-pop band, with Zeon Gomez as lead singer and producer, Felipe on guitars, Dean Dela Cruz on bass, and Julio Del Prado on drums.
Outside of the band, Zeon Gomez is also known to perform under his solo proejct, U-Pistol, and is as a producer for rising Asian talent on LA-based collective ZOOM LENS.
Either way, their synth-heavy sound creates dreamy soundscapes, taking you to another place entirely.
Listen to their track “Boulevard” below, and you’ll understand what we mean.
And this concludes our fun-sized serving of music that may or may not be New For You! If you're still looking for something else, check out our previous serving here.
