Today, One Music PH is facing a new beginning. And with new beginnings come difficult endings. As we move on to the next chapter of our story, I would like to share my story and the stories of each of us that made this family great.
I started out as a writer for One Music PH, not knowing whether my voice would be loud enough or clear enough to act as the voice of so many talented artists in this country. All I knew is that it was an opportunity to work on something I have always been passionate about: music and the arts.
What I didn't expect was that my role in this team would not be limited to just a "writer." I had eventually taken on the role as a Social Media specialist, but in the course of two years, I have also become a phone photographer, a human tripod, and a runner for big events. I learned to work beyond my role as we were a small team and we had to adjust in order for things to run smoothly. I am absolutely proud to say that all of the hard work we put in has certainly paid off, seeing that many artists and fans have responded with nothing but love and positivity.
This team has easily become my family, and I have learned so much just by working with them. I will forever be humbled to have walked alongside these amazing people throughout this journey.
While I'm in this sentimental mood, I went on to ask my said teammates what their experience was like in One Music PH. Here are some of their sentiments:
"I learned how to temper my personality to talk to different kinds of people. I feel confident now that my experience in interviewing executives, artists, and even fans will help me talk to anyone, from any walk of life." - Raf Reynante, Writer
"One Music was my 'comfort zone.' I will never forget those nights we worked yet never felt like working at all — may it be a coverage of a bar gig or a huge concert we mounted. To the artists, bands and all the people who, like me, became part of this journey, thank you. I am hopeful that we will see each other again in a music and fun-filled setting. We will rise again." - James Banaag, Writer
"I learned the value of teamwork. I also recognized the importance of collaboration. Most importantly, I further recognized how wide and creative the music industry is in the Philippines." - Kristoff Cagape, Social Media Specialist
"I learned the value of listening to my teammates, to trust them that they will do their best as long as you do the same. I also learned the value of being part of a team." - Mark Ramos Marcos, Talent Coordinator
"Working for One Music PH as my first job gave me a strong foundation in building my career. Words are not enough to express the knowledge and experience I acquired throughout the two years. I am grateful and proud that I came from the One Music PH team!" - Jerico Luy, Talent Coordinator
"Because of One Music, I learned that I was capable of becoming a producer, which I never thought was possible. I learned how to work independently, and most importantly, I learned how to work with different people —from production staff to artists, clients, and different media partners." - Klaude Clemente, Segment Producer
"I learned that small is not always synonymous to being weak. Sometimes, you don't need a bigger circle to create something extraordinary." - Denice Mendiola, Segment Producer
"One Music PH has given me the chance to watch and meet my favourite musicians but, more importantly, it has also taught me how to: appreciate all kinds of music and artistry, be prepared for whatever can come your way, and work with people from all walks of life." - Marty Floro, Photographer
"Being a content creator at ABS-CBN Sports was my first job, but One Music PH became my second home. It was a short stay and I wish it could've been longer. But it's a small world and I know we'll be seeing each other again soon. I hope that we all prosper in our next career paths. It will get better, just remember Jeremiah 29:11." - Steph Toben, Multimedia Producer
"One Music taught me to be adaptable, to be prepared for unexpected things to come your way and still be able to make quality work every time." - Thea Regis, Multimedia Producer
"Thankful ako sa team na to dahil nagkaroon ako ng strong interpersonal relationship. Mabuhay ang musikang Pilipino!" - Glenn Maranan, Multimedia Producer
"Music was always something I wanted to serve. Like all the arts you consider it a miracle, something plucked from the air. So when I heard about One Music I immediately messaged Sir Roxy if I could be part of it. Nothing is more exciting than the new thing.
If anything, it’s working with One Music that has taught me that music is the trickiest of mediums. It demands sorcery to illicit revelry in the listener and yet here in the Philippines the musician is the least championed. It was a thrill to see it in a lot of new artists, yes, but in 4 years we saw how it was when certain singers shot to the top and then disappeared the next year. If anything, One Music was an awakening, and one I’ll always be thankful for." - Alco Guerrero, Director
"It's been a great four years and eight months leading One Music PH. It's my baby but like a baby, I knew this time would come that we have to part ways. I will miss it dearly, but most of all, I will miss my team." - Joy Mesina, Editor-In-Chief
Many have come and gone, but they have all contributed their talent and passion for this team. And for that, we will forever be grateful.
As we have always said, no matter that happens, One Music PH will be there for you.
Hanggang sa muling pagkikita, Kapamilya! Mabuhay ang Musikang Pilipino!
