Monolog, for the first time, graced the four corners of OneMusicPH music room on Tuesday as the four-piece band had their live session.
The band belted out some of their original songs that have brought so much feels of the 90's era. The songs like "Ayala Ave." and "Mag-isa Na Naman," which is Monolog's current single, gave the sound of the bands we used to hear on the radio within those years -- name it: E' Heads, Rivermaya, Yano... and more!
"Throughout the years nag-iba, 'di ba? Nauuna yung image and tunog versus sa kung ano talaga dapat yung nauuna sa kanta which is the content. Parang gusto namin ibalik yung gano'n," members of the band told OneMusicPH in exclusive interview right after the performances.
(Through out the years, it has changed right? the trend has changed, the preference of the people. It came to a point that the songs being written are lacking depth, I'm not saying that it was poorly done but the image and sound versus what should have come first which should be the content. We want to bring that back)
"'Yung mga idol natin sila Eraserheads, Rivermaya, Yano... sobrang rich nung content ng mga songs, very story-based, very narrative so gusto naming ibalik 'yung gano'n," they reiterated.
(Our idols, Eraserheads, Rivermaya, Yano...the content is very rich, the songs are very story-based, very narrative so we want to bring that back)
This is also the reason why the boys chose to call their group Monolog.
(We are very interested with our song process, although have story, we are leaning towards story-telling thus birthed the name Monolog)
"It's really the nature of, 'yung pag-iisip ng tao diba? Kami 'yung feelings na naging physical," the band explained.
(Analyzing is a human nature, all of us have that moment, wherever you are, there are times you talk to yourself, What a traffic, when you're happy, you do the same. There's always that moment that you do monolog in your head, just like the band today, we become the content that comes out from anyone's mind, we become the feelings that become tangible)
The songs they performed are included in their album, which is now available at online music stores.
