Once again, the best Filipino artists, performers and their contributions to the Philippine entertainment industry for the past year were honored through the Box Office Entertainment Awards conducted by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF).
On Sunday night, May 14, the Henry Lee Irwin Theater in Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City was brightened up by the stars of different categories -- television, movies, and music -- who attended the foundation's 48th installment to formally receive their recognitions.
Among the awardees were Bailey May and Ylona Garcia -- our #ONEMUSICianOfTheWeek -- who are still considered newbies in the entertainment scene.
The two, who both rose to fame since their stint on Pinoy Big Brother 737, were named Most Promising Recording Artists of the Year for their respective debut albums released under Star Music.
Unfortunately during the event, it was only the "Gusto Kita" hitmaker who able to receive his own award and in Ylona's behalf.
"I wanna thank a lot of people, including my dad, my family, my fans, my Star Music, Star Magic, and PBB families. I would never be here, accepting the award, without their support," said Bailey, who also rendered a performance of his new single, "Boom Goes My Heart."
"On behalf of Ylona, I would like to accept this award. She's supposed to come here but she's sick," he also said. "I thank the BaiLona fans for always supporting us since PBB."
Right now, Bailey and Ylona continually working on their craft. Ylona, for one, recently released a new music video -- "Fly Tonight." Whether together or not, they have been touring over different cities around the country promoting their music.
