Manila, Philippines - Neuto House PH just launched their first biggest project of the year, an online reality show entitled RAPBAKAN.
Setting the tone, one of the judges Crazymix exclaimed that this ain't your usual rap battle league, nor this is your average singing competition.
Rapbakan is a new music competition reality show and it’s very tempting to call it the hip-hop version of the most popular reality singing competitions out there, but in truth, Rapbakan is more ambitious (and its contestants far more actively involved in their own music production) than that.
Over 20 episodes, judges Curse One, Aikee, Princess Thea, and the aforementioned Crazymix scour the country for promising rap artists who can perform and produce.
The show will start airing on July 9, 2022 and will run for four months or so. Auditions and battle rounds will be held at local clubs with a crowd, adding extra layers of pressure and immediate feedback on top of the actual judging. The cyphers, by contrast, will be performed in front of no one but the judges, therefore testing the rappers’ abilities to project as much confidence in a vacuum as they did when feeding off an audience’s energy. By the time the show’s narrowed its contestants down to the music video and sampling stages, they get more of an opportunity to showcase their own sounds, personal histories and creativity. These latter challenges are also geared toward helping the competitors become more savvy about the demands of the music industry.
