One Music POPSSSS host Ryle Santiago celebrates his win as he bagged the New Movie Actor of the Year award from the recently concluded 35th PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
Held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on Sunday evening, Ryle personally accepted the recognition from the Philippine Movie Press Club.
“It was such a big deal to me and my family when we found out I was even nominated for this award. I thought it would be such a stretch but I was thankful to even be nominated,” he wrote in his Instagram post. “Sobrang taranta ko nung narinig kong tawagin ang pangalan ko. Hindi ako yung tipong tao na madali mataranta.”
“I’d like to thank our lovely friends at the Philippine Movie Press Club for nominating me and presenting me with this award,” he added.
Ryle also thanked his fans, his talent management, the shows that he’s part of, and his parents.
“To my parents, I don’t know where to start.. I know when I was younger matigas ulo ko. When I grew up thats when things started going my way because I listened. I know you guys had to go through so much for me and I am so thankful. You didn’t have to be there tonight to bring me my clothes and wait for me at the lobby but you did. There’s so much I want to say but words cannot describe. All I can say is I love you and I appreciate you, mom and dad.
“To the people that raised me from the ground up, mom and dad, what we’ve been fighting for all this time is coming into light and this is a big step in that direction,” he said.
Ryle was awarded for his performance in the 2018 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino entry ‘Bakwit Boys’ by Jason Paul Laxamana.
The film revolves around four brothers, who are forced to leave their hometown after it is devastated by a super typhoon, struggle to bring music back into their lives. They then meet a city girl who discovers their talent and wants to help them succeed.
