Rivermaya officially signed a recording deal with a new label, this time with Star Music.
The contract signing of the band -- now composed of Nathan Azarcon on bass/vocals, Mike Elgar on guitars/vocals, Mark Escueta on guitar & percussion/vocals, and Ryan Peralta on drums/percussion -- happened on Friday, May 19 by the presence of their manager Raymond Fabul, together with the record label's executives Roxy Liquigan and Jonathan Manalo.
"We are very excited for this collaboration with Star Music. I saw how passionate they are when it comes to their artists," said Escueta whose wife is also an artist under the same label, Jolina Magdangal.
The band is set to release their 12th studio album under the ABS-CBN music arm. Called Sa Kabila Ng Lahat, the album will feature all-original songs, including its carrier single "Manila."
"This album tackles love in different forms," Elgar shared.
Azarcon added, "we made sure we're giving our old and new listeners a new flavor yet [the] Rivermaya sound remains."
Sa Kabila Ng Lahat will mark the band's 23rd anniversary in the local music scene.
"Para ito sa mga nandyan para sa amin simula 1994 at sana makwento rin nila sa mga kaibigan nila na may bagong album ang Rivermaya," said the boys.
Since the band's already with Star Music, Escueta, together with his bandmates, also aim to collaborate with fellow artists like Yeng Constantino, Ebe Dancel, and Gloc-9. Rivermaya also said they're open to singing and making music for teleseryes and movies.
Rivermaya, meanwhile, told OneMusicPH they're also open to doing a digital concert. Would you love that?
