While many are eagerly awaiting for tickets to the Eraserheads third reunion concert Ang Huling El Bimbo to be available, a good number of fans expressed their concern over the participation of guitarist Marcus Adoro over his history of alleged abusive behavior that came to prominence in 2019. During that year, Adoro’s former partner indie film actress Barbara Ruaro, and daughter indie singer Syd Hartha, went public with their own allegations leveled on Adoro.
Drummer Raimund Marasigan had an interview with bandwagon.ph recounting the meetings and the pictorial that led to the reunion materializing. In light of the Marcus' resurfacing allegations, he said: "If you’re my friend, seek me out and we can talk about it privately,” Marasigan stated. “Publicly on social media, any statement can be misconstrued. Nobody wins. I hope the issue between the parties get resolved soon. I really want to respect the privacy of those involved, and sincerely hope they all find peace of mind.”
He expounded on this further in an episode of Offstage Hang, a podcast he co-hosts with Daren Lim, referring to it as "The most difficult question of all," before reiterating his appeal to deal with this privately to avoid being miscontrued in public.
“Because of this show, people will discuss, people will argue, people will fight, people will boycott, that’s OK,” he added. “When we agreed to do the show, we [knew] all of this can happen. I will not invalidate everybody’s opinions or feelings.”
Frontman Ely Buendia's manager Diane Ventura reached to ANCX to issue the following statement:
“One of Ely’s non-negotiable conditions prior to signing was precisely that Marcus resolve his issues otherwise Ely would not work with him. This was promised by Marcus’ management which was why we even reconsidered.”
“To call Ely an enabler is categorically false and absurd. We do not condone that is absolute. We acknowledge the pain and suffering of the parties involved and we seek accountability.”
“However, we will do what we can to encourage peace, resolution and will never get in the way of possible reconciliation or second chances between families. We are hoping for good to come out of this.”
As of press time, Adoro has yet to deliver on his promise to address and resolve the issues in public.
Both Ruaro and Syd Hartha have also expressed gratitude on the people who have brought new light to the issues:
Overwhelmed. Humbled. Words escape me. We are incredibly blessed and fortunate to receive such tremendous support from you all. To be frank, I personally did not expect many of you to remember, simply because of how the world has turned upside down —— Barbara Ruaro (@bieruaro) September 20, 2022
And how I’ve witnessed people choose idolatry over integrity, power over principle.— Barbara Ruaro (@bieruaro) September 20, 2022
Thank you for the bravery, the compassion, and the astounding kindness, which will remain with us moving forward.
I have no hate in my heart — just a burning hope that somehow, we can make a something beautiful out of this. We are all living testimonies of the power of faith and love.— Barbara Ruaro (@bieruaro) September 20, 2022
