Happy Earth Day, everyone! We're just days away from our favorite gig for a cause, which means it's time to start prepping those beach essentials!
But before we proceed, keep in mind that even though we're going to have tons of fun at Elyu, we should take it upon ourselves to help protect our beautiful beaches by saying NO to single-use plastics and YES to responsible beach partying.
So we've come up with a list of eco-friendly beach essentials to add to your packing list.
- Reusable water bottles / tumblers
Instead of buying those thin plastic party cups for your beverages, try bringing BPA free water bottles or even your favorite insulated thermos to keep yourself hydrated in this intense summer heat!
- Reusable utensils
We're not big fans of plastic spoon and forks, so we suggest bringing some of them from home, or you can buy an eco-friendly straw and dining set just for travelling.
- Reef-friendly, natural sunscreen
Sunscreen is a necessity when we’re going to the beach. But even though the party starts in the evening, we know you'll be passing the time surfing or posting your IG worthy photos by the beach. Make sure to keep your skin protected from major sun damage by using effective sunscreen without the harmful chemicals.
- Eco beach bags / dry bags
Admit it, the classic "May extra plastic ka ba diyan?” is a common question on every barkada beach trip. But sometimes the extra plastic you have ends up in the water, which we want to avoid at all costs. If you want to keep both your dry and wet clothes safe, try using reusable beach bags or totes and waterproof dry bags!
- Sand-repellent beach towels
Okay, so this item is a little something extra, but did you know that an average beach-goer takes about 170g of sand away from the beach? That’s almost 3 handfuls of sand! It’s hard enough to wash it out of our our clothes, so might as well avoid it altogether.
- Good friends and good vibes
This last item is definitely one of the most important on our list, because what's a beach party without the company of your friends? We’re all about having a good time while talking about the best ways to protect our environment, so the more, the merrier!
And that concludes our list of essentials for One Paradise 2019!
