In a world like show business where uncertainty can take away your sanity, Toni Gonzaga continually proves that the title Ultimate Multimedia Star truly and without a doubt belongs to her. Despite not being hailed as the champion in the local TV singing competition Tanghalan Ng Kampeon at the age of 13, she did not stop from pursuing her career in the industry.
Her big break started way back 2001 when she graced one local TV commercial with heartthrob Piolo Pascual. Her comedic performance in the TV Ad opened the door to show business. People just couldn’t get enough of the funny girl in the TV Ad. She started as a host in one noontime show on local television, then transferred to ABS-CBN where her career totally blossomed.
For over a decade, Toni ceaselessly aimed to develop her craft as she showcased her talents from one field to another. From her superb hosting skills in The Buzz, ASAP, The Voice Kids and Pinoy Big Brother to her remarkable and perky roles in well-loved romantic-comedy films like My Big Love, This Guy is In Love With You, Pare, My Amnesia Girl, Starting Over Again and You’re My Boss. But what makes Toni even more adorable is her ability to touch the hearts of Filipino though her heartfelt songs.
Toni Gonzaga’s eponymous debut album under Prime Music Inc. was released in 2002. But it was in 2005 when people started to really appreciate Toni’s singing talent when her first commercial single We Belong, which was used in the popular Koreanovela Wonderful Life, hit the music charts.
The values and principles instilled by her parents are well reflected in Toni’s personality. Her belief in love that blooms at the right time and for the right reasons were genuinely represented in her best-selling albums. On screen, people may easily identify her as the instantly relatable humorous girl who can take your breath away. But when it comes to music, she’s one of the singers who can make you smile, cry and fall in love over and over again.
Toni Gonzaga has seven albums up to date, five of which are Certified Gold Records while her Falling In Love album released in 2007 achieved a Platinum Record. In the 7th PMPC Star Awards for Music held on November 10, her Celestine album released last year was pronounced as the Album of the Year. Her eight sold-out concerts proved that people indeed adore her.
Just this October, her My Love Story album under Star Records perfectly translates into music her beautiful relationship with husband Paul Soriano. She was hands-on in the production from the musical arrangement up to the selection of the songs. A more dramatic version of her Catch Me, I’m Falling single is also included in the track.
Toni’s romantic, sentimental ballads trigger a rush of deep emotions and allow her listeners to believe in love and fight for it regardless of the setbacks. And this is just one of the reasons why Toni Gonzaga earns a spot in the pop Filipino music playlist, indeed, of every Filipino out there.
